Lucknow : Under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh is achieving remarkable milestones in women empowerment. Through a mission-mode implementation of Central schemes, the state has launched impactful initiatives to uplift women in rural and urban areas and make them self-reliant.
Among these initiatives, the Lakhpati Didi Yojana stands out as a transformative program. Focused on economic empowerment, the scheme enables women to achieve financial independence and significantly improve their quality of life.
Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ambitious Lakhpati Didi program, the Uttar Pradesh government, led by CM Yogi, aims to make 28.92 lakh women self-help group (SHG) members “Lakhpatis” (earning over Rs 1 lakh annually) within the next three years.
So far, the income records of 13.28 lakh SHG members have been updated in the livelihood register, with over 1.37 lakh women already achieving the milestone of becoming Lakhpatis.
Women are being connected to at least two or more income sources through coordination with various departments like agriculture, dairy development, silk production, and fisheries under the Lakhpati Didi scheme.
The Yogi government is also boosting women’s income by providing subsidies for initiatives such as custom hiring centers, farm machinery banks, poly houses/net houses, silk production, and fisheries.
To support the program, 4,274 community resource persons have been trained and appointed. These trained individuals offer continuous guidance and help women explore new livelihood opportunities, ensuring sustainable growth and financial independence.

Under the Pradhan Mantri SVANidhi Scheme, over 2 lakh women in the state have benefited. Additionally, 2,510 fair price shops have been allocated to women self-help groups (SHGs), boosting their income and providing stable economic support to their families.
To ensure social security for women, 32.71 lakh beneficiaries have been covered under the Nirashrit Mahila Pension Scheme., while 60 lakh mothers have received support through the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana. These schemes are proving effective in improving women’s health, education, and economic security.
The Uttar Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission has further connected over 95 lakh women through 8,54,266 SHGs. By leveraging village organizations and cluster-level federations, the program is fostering collective empowerment among rural women, enabling them to achieve greater self-reliance and financial stability.
